❋Waves of Healing
Outer Banks, North Carolina October 2-5, 2026
A Transformational Coastal Retreat for Women Grieving Suicide Loss
Imagine being in a room where no one asks you to explain your grief because everyone already understands. A place where you can exhale, share as much or as little as you'd like, and discover that healing after suicide loss is possible.
The Waves of Healing Retreat is an intimate, transformational experience designed exclusively for women who have lost a loved one to suicide and are ready to reclaim moments of peace, purpose, and joy.
Limited to 10 women for a deeply personal experience.
**Only a few spaces remain**
Created by Jayne Madigan, a four-time suicide loss survivor who has spent more than three decades helping survivors heal after devastating loss.
What to Expect?
At Healing After Suicide, we know healing can’t happen in isolation.
That’s why Waves of Healingisn’t just a retreat—it’s a lifeline.
A soft landing for women who have endured the heartbreak of suicide loss and are searching for a way to breathe again.
From the moment you step into our peaceful beach house (yes, just a 5-minute walk from the Atlantic), you’re invited to do something rare: exhale.
Set it all down.
And let someone else hold you for a change.
Here, you’re not a project. You’re not a problem to solve.
You are a whole human—still loving, still grieving, and still deserving of joy.
Where the ocean becomes the witness.
The Outer Banks offers a unique magic—the kind of natural calm that softens what no words can reach.
Wide sandy beaches, gentle waves, and unfiltered sunrises remind you that even after devastation, beauty isn’t done with you yet.
This isn’t just a pretty backdrop.
It’s a gently curated environment for the one thing grief starves out first: hope.
Through trauma-informed care, somatic healing, restorative rituals, and connection with other women who get it, you’ll find experiential space to:
Calm your nervous system
Honor your grief without being consumed by it
Reconnect with the part of you that’s still alive
And begin to imagine—little by little—what moving forward could actually feel like
Our professional team isn’t here to fix you.
We’re here to facilitate your return—to yourself, to peace, and to quiet, concrete moments of relief.
What You Won’t Find Here:
This retreat is not about spiritually bypassing your pain, ignoring your story, or pretending “everything happens for a reason.”
You won’t find performative positivity here.
Instead, you’ll experience:
– Sunrise meditations and grounding nature walks
– Somatic practices to gently regulate your nervous system
– Sound baths and mindful movement by the sea
– Journaling, restorative rituals, and group reflection
– Nourishing meals and unscheduled space for rest
– Real talk—with women who speak your language
Every session is optional. Every moment is yours.
We host this experience with care, curiosity, and the kind of trauma-informed support that reminds you:
You didn’t choose this pain. But you can choose how you move within it—and ultimately, beyond it.
Women leave Waves of Healing feeling lighter in their hearts and clearer in their minds.
Often for the first time in a long time, they feel seen—not just in their grief,
but in their possibility.
Ready to come up for air?
You belong here—exactly as you are.

A Note About Retreat Photos
You may notice that I do not share photos of past retreats. This is intentional. Protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the women who attend my retreats is more important than marketing. Every participant deserves a safe space to heal, knowing that her presence, story, and experience will remain private.
From My Heart to Yours
If you’re reading this, you’ve survived a kind of pain that most people can’t even name—let alone carry.
I know the heaviness. The fog.
I know what it’s like to be the strong one on the outside,
while piecing yourself back together in private when the world isn’t watching.
I know the questions nobody can answer, and the moments when even taking a deep breath feels like work.
This is the part nobody teaches us:
How to grieve something that changed everything—while still longing to move forward.
I created the Waves of Healing Retreat from that exact place.
This wasn’t born from theory.
It was built from lived experience, deep soul work, and the quiet rooms that taught me healing isn’t about “getting over it.”
It’s about learning how to let hope have a voice again…
even if it sounds shaky at first.
This retreat is sacred from its bones up.
The home where we gather isn’t just any beach house—it belongs to a fellow survivor. She opens this space as part of her own healing journey too.
So from the walls to the welcome, you’re in good company here.
Every detail—from the meals to the ocean walks to the quiet afternoons wrapped in blankets and real talk—was designed with one question in mind:
What would it feel like to be gently cared for, instead of constantly holding it all together?
That's my intention:
To create the space I always wished existed during my own darkest seasons of grief.
A place where you don’t have to explain your pain.
Where melt-downs are allowed, and laughter is medicine.
Where your nervous system can finally soften—and possibility doesn’t feel like betrayal.
If you’re considering joining us, I hope you do.
You don’t have to be “ready.”
You don’t have to have any answers.
All you have to do is show up as you are.
And we’ll take it from there—together.
With love (and a little ocean salt),
Jayne Madigan

Testimonial
Jayne is hope - she has given me hope and is helping me to heal from the worst event of my life -- loss of my loved one. At a time, when I was in such pain and totally lost and spiraling, I am so grateful I found Jayne. I attended a virtual conference in January 2025, and have attended support groups since and a one-on-one session.
Jayne leads with compassion, from experience, and with wonderful techniques to facilitate healing- from somatic exercises, to tapping, to talking, to affirmations, and meditation, and more.
She has been a critical force in me working through my grief and transforming. Jayne is a reason I believe I can be alright. No one should have to go through such tragic loss. But if someone finds themselves in this unfathomable situation, Jayne is a lighthouse in the dark, a true guide and standout beacon of hope on this path. Thank you, Jayne for leading and guiding so well. - Kelli Smith
❋Waves of Healing: Outer Banks, NC
Your Retreat Experience
Waves of Healing is more than a retreat for women who have lost a loved one to suicide —it's a sanctuary. Every detail has been carefully curated to help you rest, reconnect, and feel the kind of care most women give—but rarely receive.Over these three days together, you'll be wrapped in warmth—through restorative rituals, meaningful community, and the kind of hospitality that reminds you: you don't have to manage everything right now.
🍃 Nourishment as Ceremony
Every meal is a gentle invitation to slow down. To savor something delicious. To remember you are worthy of sweetness, even in the middle of grief.Your retreat includes 3 nourishing meals a day, plus healthy snacks, so all you have to do is show up hungry. Here's what you can look forward to:A beautiful welcome charcuterie gathering when you arrive — to ground your body and gently break the iceA candlelit dinner beneath soft light after Saturday evening's immersive sound healing experienceA traditional Outer Banks coastal boil catered on Sunday, tying you to the roots and richness of the regionHerbal teas, wellness beverages, and nourishing snacks available through the day for quiet comfortAnd best of all? Everything's taken care of. No grocery lists. No clean-up. No "what's for dinner?" All you have to do is show up hungry—for food, for healing, for whatever's next.
🍃 An Indulgent Experience
Healing happens in the body as much as the heart, so your days are layered with ways to soften and restore. Throughout the retreat, you'll be guided through:An immersive sound healing journeyMeditation on the beach, with the waves as your soundtrackHeartfelt healing circles with the women beside youA visit to a salt cave for deep, quiet restorationQigong on the beach to gently move stagnant energyA private reiki energy session, just for youAnd more sacred surprises woven throughout your stayThis isn't extra. This is the retreat.
🍃 An Alcohol-Free, Soul-Filled Space
Waves of Healing is intentionally alcohol-free—not because we're anti-celebration, but because we're pro-restoration. When clarity is honored and the body feels safe, true integration can unfold. Instead, you'll enjoy wellness-inspired mocktails, herbal teas, and the kind of cozy, supportive care that lets you truly unwind.
🍃 Here, comfort is sacred
Whether you're sharing a quiet morning by the sea, laughing with women who just get it, or curling up in a cozy nook with your journal, every detail has been chosen to help you:Lower your guardSoothe your systemSavor small momentsAnd let yourself just beThis isn't about fixing you. It's about reminding you that you never stopped deserving tenderness. At Waves of Healing, our intention is simple—to create a space where you can soften, feel held, and remember that healing is possible (even if you can't always see the path).
🍃Free Time, Your Way
Each day, you'll have 4 hours of unstructured free time to relax, recharge, and make the retreat your own. Book a private Reiki session with Jayne for some deep, restorative healing, or soak up the sun by the pool. Unwind in the hot tub, take a barefoot stroll along the beach, or venture out and explore the charm of the Outer Banks. Cozy up in the home theater for an afternoon movie, or simply find a quiet spot to do nothing at all. However you choose to spend it, this time is yours to slow down and simply be.
🍃Healing Begins Before You Arrive
This retreat doesn't start when you land on the Outer Banks — it starts the moment you say yes. In the weeks leading up to our time together, you'll receive a private virtual session and a group virtual gathering, where you'll meet your fellow retreat-goers and start building connection before you ever arrive. I'll guide you through simple somatic techniques to help regulate your nervous system and settle into your body. By the time we meet in person, you'll already be grounded, connected, and ready to go deeper — so the retreat becomes a continuation of your healing, not the beginning of it.

Meet Your Retreat Guide
Hey—I’m Jayne.
Founder of Healing After Suicide, creator of retreats for women who have lost a loved one to suicide, and a fellow survivor who understands that grief doesn’t just break your heart—it changes your entire sense of reality.
I’ve spent the last 34 years living through—and then studying—the impact of suicide loss. Not from a distance, but from inside my own kitchen. My own journals. My own body.
I know what it’s like to show up for everyone else while privately piecing yourself back together.
I know how invisible suicide grief can feel in a world that wants you “okay” by Monday.
And I also know that healing isn’t a myth.
It’s the slow, sacred work of learning how to carry beauty and pain—without letting either one steal your future.
My approach weaves together trauma-informed grief support, nervous system healing, neuroscience, somatic practices, and spiritual compassion. Credentials? Yes—I have them (I’m a Certified Neuropsychotherapist, Certified Suicide Bereavement Clinician, Master EFT Practitioner, Reiki Master, and Grief Support Facilitator).
But compassion is my core method.
And presence is my promise.
At Waves of Healing, I personally guide our circles through nervous system regulation, somatic tools, reflective meditation, deep group connection, private Reiki sessions, and sacred rest.
You don’t have to hold it together here. Or explain yourself. Or speed up your healing for anyone else’s comfort.
You get to arrive exactly as you are—and stay that way the whole time.
It’s my deepest honor to hold this space for women like you:
women who are grieving, evolving, and quietly rewriting what survival can actually look like.
You’ve carried enough, love.
Come let someone hold you for a change.
With heart,
Jayne

Life is unpredictable, especially in grief. We gently encourage everyone to consider optional travel insurance, so an unexpected change in circumstances doesn't also become a financial one.
