Coloring Through Grief
Let’s Talk, Color, and Heal—Together.
Grief after suicide loss is unlike any other kind of grief. It touches every part of the body, mind, and spirit. That’s why I created Coloring Through Grief—a gentle, creative support circle for women walking this path.
This is not your typical support group. It’s a trauma-informed, neuroscience-backed space where we soften the edges of grief through mindful coloring, somatic tools, and meaningful connection.
The Science of Why This Works:
Coloring engages the prefrontal cortex—the part of your brain responsible for emotional regulation and focus. When you color, you shift out of fight-or-flight and into the parasympathetic nervous system, creating a sense of safety and calm.
Mindful coloring has been shown to reduce cortisol (the stress hormone) and increase feelings of peace and presence. It’s a gentle way to ground the body and regulate overwhelming emotions—especially for survivors navigating the trauma of suicide loss.
Conversation and connection activate the social engagement system of the brain, helping to restore a sense of belonging and co-regulation. In grief, isolation deepens pain. In community, healing begins.
As a Certified Neuropsychotherapist, Jayne Madigan will guide you through simple mindfulness and nervous system practices throughout each session. These tools help you feel safe, seen, and supported as you gently explore your emotions—without pressure to share or “be okay.”
