Self-Care Investment
A retreat can be profoundly healing for survivors of suicide loss because it provides a dedicated space for reflection, connection, and renewal away from the distractions and stresses of everyday life.
Here’s how a retreat can foster healing:
1. Safe Space for Grieving
Retreats offer a compassionate and judgment-free environment where survivors can express their grief openly. This space allows participants to explore their emotions, share their stories, and feel validated without fear of stigma or misunderstanding.
2. Connection with Others Who Understand
Being surrounded by others who have experienced a similar loss can be profoundly comforting. Survivors often feel isolated in their grief, but retreats provide a sense of community, reminding them that they are not alone. Sharing experiences with others who truly understand can foster deep, healing connections.
3. Focus on Self-Care
Retreats prioritize self-care, offering participants time and tools to nurture their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Activities like yoga, meditation, journaling, and nature walks help participants reconnect with themselves and create moments of calm and restoration.
4. Healing Practices and Techniques
This retreat includes sessions led by Jayne Madigan, 32 year Survivor of Suicide Loss and Profession Suicide Bereavement Specialist.
These introduce tools such as:
Mindfulness and meditation: To help manage overwhelming emotions and find peace.
Somatic practices: To release grief stored in the body.
Art therapy or journaling: For creative expression and emotional release.
& MUCH MORE!
These practices equip participants with techniques they can continue to use after the retreat.
5. Time in Nature
Sedona Arizona is the perfect place to explore serene, natural settings that promote grounding and calm. Time in nature—whether through hiking, meditating near a stream, or sitting under the stars—has a soothing and healing effect, helping participants reconnect with the world around them and find solace.
6. Honoring Loved Ones
This retreat will allow participants the opportunity to honor their loved one by sharing memories, or engaging in symbolic acts of remembrance, offering participants a meaningful way to celebrate their loved ones’ lives.
7. Tools for Moving Forward
Survivors will leave this retreats with new tools, insights, and perspectives to help them navigate their grief journey. These include grounding exercises, affirmations, and action steps for integrating healing into daily life.
8. Restoring Hope
The collective energy of a retreat, combined with moments of reflection and connection, often helps survivors feel less burdened by their grief. It provides hope that healing is possible and that they can find meaning and purpose after loss.
9. Opportunities for Growth and Transformation
Retreats are not just about grief; they also focus on personal growth. Survivors may uncover new strengths, passions, or perspectives that empower them to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.
10. Lasting Community
Retreats often foster lasting bonds among participants. These connections can become a source of ongoing support, with participants continuing to check in, share resources, or meet again at future events.
In Summary: A retreat is more than a break from everyday life; it is a sanctuary for healing. It offers survivors a chance to step away from the chaos, process their grief, and focus on their well-being in a supportive and nurturing environment. By connecting with others, engaging in healing practices, and honoring their loved ones, participants can find renewed strength, hope, and tools to carry with them on their grief journey.

Meet Retreat Facilitator:
Hi, I’m Jayne Madigan, and I’ll be your guide for this healing journey. I am a Certified Neuropsychotherapist, Suicide Bereavement Specialist, and a 33-year survivor of suicide loss. Over the years, I’ve helped thousands of individuals heal through the same tools and techniques that transformed my own life.
After losing my uncle and nephew to suicide, I know firsthand how isolating and overwhelming this journey can feel. The grief and PTSD I experienced led me to explore holistic methods that not only supported my emotional healing but also helped me cure a terminal lupus diagnosis.
Today, I am deeply passionate about creating safe, compassionate spaces where survivors can heal, connect, and rediscover hope. Through my work, I aim to empower women to move forward with tools that honor their loved ones and transform their grief into a journey of healing and growth.
